ART and FASHION

Surrealism (Dali and Lulu)

The first pictures is Dali’s painting that was painted around 19 century. The second one is the modern red lip sofa that inspired by Dali’s picture.

Dali was known as surrealism skilled draftman and painter. He was influenced by Renaissance art. He and his artwork also greatly known as very imaginative ones.

The third picture is the clutch bag from LuLu Guiness. There is no evidence said where this clutch inspired from but it looks very much like Deli’s painting. The clutch and its desigh also look like “Red Lip” and it is also reflect contemporary modern art.

Post Impressionism (Van gogh and Alexander McQueen)

The first and the second pictures was Van Gogh’s skull painting. The second one was painted in Paris around 1887-1888.

Vincent Van Gogh was born in 1853, Holland. He was very emotional and laced of self-confidence. But that leads to his great work in expressionism. He was considered to be post impressionism artist.

The third picture is the Alexander McQueen’s skull scarf. It was first launch approximately around Spring/Summer 2006. But become better known in Spring/Summer 2008. The printing in the scarf looks very much like the skull painting of Van Gogh. I suppose it would have some inspiration from the painting. This is also another contemporary modern art that it appears in fashion world.

Post Modernism/Pop Art (Andy Worhol and Jeremy Scott for Adidas)

Mickey Mouse is one of the Walt Disney’s famous character and the “Long lasting” cartoon. He was a drawing, an art, that once become animation and now fashion. Its hardly someone doesn’t know of him. He is also involving in pop culture or as called post modernism period.

Mickey Mouse has been used in many items including clothes and shoes. This second picture also the applied design sneaker by Jeremy Scott for Adidas, Fall 2009 RTW collection. It was heavily inspired by Mickey Mouse

This example has shown the direct inspiration from art that transform into RTW fashion.

Greek (Ancient painting and Gustavo Cadile)

The first picture was an ancient time painting. This painting called Fresco painting. It was made in the palace of the Minoan kings and queens. The picture shows the drawing skill that ancient people had. It also tell us the way how Greek women dress.

The second picture is Gustavo Cadile dress from his Spring 2008 collection. The dress gown looks very similar to Greek painting, the one shoulder style and also color.

Although there is no evidence mentioned where Gustavo’s collection come from, but the draping evening dress has applied some design from Greek era.

Renaissance (Leonado Davinci and Hermes)

Leonado (April 1453- May1519) has always been described as the archetype of Renaissance man. He was also widely known as a very talented artist.

The first picture was one of his famous painting “The Study of Horse” beside Mona Lisa and The Last Supper.

Hermer is French high fashion house specializing in leather. The second picture is the current Hermes’s Logo, Duc carriage with horse. It was established in1837 by Thierry Hermès.

There is no paper mentioned where Hermes’ logo inspiration from, but there are structure related between those horses. In the first and second pictures, there have shown the masculine and arrogant horses. They look very similar as if they were painted in the same era.

Post Modernism/Pop Art (Andy Worhol and Jeremy Scott for Adidas)

Abstract (Brunce Grey and Emilio Pucci)

The first painting is an abstract modern contemporary painting. It was painted by modern artist name Bruce Gray. It shows the non-reality art with multicolor.

Also the second and third pictures that abstract style appeared. There are pictures from Emilio Pucci Spring RTW 2009 collections.

Pucci brand was born a bit before 1947 by ski clothes. But now it was widely known as an abstract print on drapery dresses.
